Director of Human Resources

Illuminate Colorado is a statewide 501(c)(3) organization working to strengthen families, organizations and communities to prevent child maltreatment. Role: Under the guidance of the Executive Director, this position will be responsible for overseeing all Human Resources functions of the organization, including hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes; managing payroll and benefits procedures; fostering a positive organizational culture; nurturing professional growth and development; furthering our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; and ensuring the well-being of teammembers.
This position will also serve as part of the organization's leadership team and will directly supervise members of the Human Resources Team.

Specific Duties Include:

Provide Leadership and Oversee Implementation of Best Practice Human Resources
Policies, Procedures, and Initiatives

● Develop and implement Human Resources strategies that align with
Illuminate Colorado's mission, vision, values, and foundations;

● Collaborate with Executive Leadership to ensure Human Resources initiatives support overall organizational strategy;

● Maintain updated Human Resource management policies and procedures and support all staff in understanding and complying with processes;

● Remain current on Human Resources best practices, laws, & regulations and ensure organizational compliance; and

● Develop, recommend, and execute strategies to foster a positive organizational culture, including furthering organizational commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Oversee Recruitment, Development, & Retention Practices and Processes, including
Compensation, Benefits, and Employee Relations

● Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes to attract and retain a passionate, diverse, and knowledgeable team;

● Review, refine, and implement strategies for employee engagement and retention including professional development, training opportunities, staff development, and staff feedback to enhance the skills, capabilities, and productivity of the team;

● Promote a culture of continuous learning and growth mindset;
● Implement and manage performance management systems to drive individual and organizational success;
● Provide guidance and support to supervisors in conducting effective performance management and performance evaluations;
● Ensure competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices and benefit programs - including paid time off policies and practices;
● Oversee employee classifications, time tracking, and payroll processing;
● Ensure consistent and timely benefit enrollment and renewal processes;
● Serve as a trusted advisor to employees, supervisors, and Executive Leadership on Human Resources issues;
● Mediate and resolve employee relations issues, ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment;
● Oversee distribution and tracking of Illuminate Staff Resources including company property, office supplies, and technology; and
● Assist with human resource related questions from employees;

Offer leadership and supervision to the Human Resources Team
● Ensure all Human Resources staff have the support they need to succeed in achieving their respective responsibilities;
● Offer vision, clear expectations, and opportunities for staff to own and grow the work; and
● Engage and support staff to identify ways to grow professionally.

Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills, & Qualifications:

● At least five years of related experience with Human Resource Management, with Human Resources leadership experience in a nonprofit setting preferred.

● At least 3 years of supervisory experience required, experience providing coaching and support to staff supervisors strongly preferred.

● Experience supporting a rapidly growing team is strongly preferred.
● Experience with drafting, revising, standardizing and maintaining organizational policies, practices, and procedures strongly preferred.
● Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations.
● Ability to develop strong relationships within the organization, including strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
● Detail-oriented, strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Strong project management and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize multiple work assignments, to work independently on projects, and to meet deadlines.

● Proficient with MS Office applications, (e.g. MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint) and
Google Workspace (e.g. Google Docs, Gmail, Docs, Drive, Slides).

● Impeccable work ethic, personal integrity, and transparency.
● Superior adaptability and flexibility.

Compensation & Schedule:

Full-time, salaried, exempt position eligible for benefits. Starting salary is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience in the range of $75,000 - $85,000.

Illuminate Colorado offers health and dental benefits as well as participation in a
401K and Life Insurance benefits. In addition, Illuminate Colorado has an unlimited paid time off policy and offers both flexible scheduling and remote work. Residency in Colorado, or anticipated relocation to Colorado in the near future (at your own expense), is a condition of employment with Illuminate.
