CRC awards Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, Associate degrees for Transfer, Career Education certificates, and transfer credit for students who intend to continue their education at a four- year college or university. Our 200+ programs include automotive technology, radio, television and film, allied heath, veterinary technology, and architecture and design technology, among others.
With a focus on improving completion outcomes for all students, programs like Umoja, the Puente project, and DIOP Scholars and Native American Higher Ed Resources, look to increase the number of Latinx, African-American, and Native American students who complete a degree, certificate and/or transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Student support services and programs including CARE, EOPS, Enriched Scholars, and First Year Experience enhance the ability of all students to complete college. The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance, including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.
Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers (LRCFT) contract Article 2. (The initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 8)
The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching courses in all levels Early Childhood Education offered at the college.
The department maintains a focus on:
●Creating active, culturally responsive, inclusive learning environments and curricula that welcome and engage a diverse student population, including a wide variety of ages, demographic groups, multi-linguistic, and educational abilities.
●Providing leadership and direction in the development of new programs for areas that may be identified in the future.
●Working closely with community resources, industry representatives, agencies, Local Planning Council, professional organizations, the campus child development center, and faculty from other departments to develop and enhance curriculum and program offerings.
●Assisting in the growth of its course offering and transfer opportunities for its students.
●Offering innovative practices to support student success, and to promote higher order critical thinking.
●Maintaining currency in early childhood education and child development research, practices, educational philosophies, legislative mandates, and advocacy.
●A broad range of early childhood programs (e.g. family child care and education, infant care, pre-school, Head Start, bilingual/bicultural programs, after-school programs, and full inclusion).
●Engaging in self-reflection with colleagues and students about his or her teaching, leadership, professional development, and service to the campus community.
●Adhering to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) code of ethical conduct.
●Promoting the concepts of family engagement and mentoring.
●Providing courses and programs which support early childhood education, elementary education, and general education students.
●Developing innovative pathways and course content to support a variety of academic and workforce competencies which support future work with children, families, and the community.
●Familiarity and use of technology which supports innovative coursework and workforce readiness.
The instructional assignment may include day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend, and/or off-campus classes.
Work Year164 days
1. Have a master’s degree from an accredited institution, completed by August 22, 2019, in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Human Development, Home Economics/Family and Consumer studies with a specialization in Child Development/Early Childhood Education, or Educational Psychology with a specialization in Child Development/Early Childhood Education; OR have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, completed by August 22, 2019, in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Human Development, Home Economics/Family and Consumer studies with a specialization in Child Development/Early Childhood Education, or Educational Psychology with a specialization in Child Development/Early Childhood Education; AND have a master’s degree in Social Work, Educational Supervision, Elementary Education, Special Education, Psychology, Bilingual/Bicultural Education, Life Management/Home Economics, Family Life Studies, or Family and Consumer Studies; OR, hold a California Community College Instructor’s Credential in the discipline area; OR, the equivalent.*
2. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Additional Salary InformationEntering annual salary within a given range varies, depending upon units/degrees completed at accredited colleges/universities and experience. Candidates not holding a master's degree may start at a salary lower than posted above.
